National Security Culture Forum
Last Friday, March 10, the first face-to-face meeting of the National Security Culture Forum was held at the INCIPE headquarters, with the participation of the Spanish strategic and foreign policy analysis centers. The meeting was chaired by Miguel Ángel Ballesteros, director of the Department of National Security, Presidency of the Government.
On November 25, the National Security Culture Forum was officially constituted, whose creation was approved by the Council of Ministers, and published in the BOE as Order PCM/1051/2022. This Forum is created as a public-private collaboration body, with the main objective of proposing initiatives to increase social awareness of the importance of Social Security in our daily lives, as well as to promote the celebration of joint and participative activities within the framework of the National Security Culture Plan.
At the meeting, Miguel Ángel Ballesteros remarked that “a National Security Plan cannot be built without the participation of civil society, which must express its problems”. Issues such as the importance of adequately adapting a subject as relevant as National Security, the need for the Administrations’ permeability with the strategic centers to continue to grow and the increasing importance of the new media as a channel for dissemination were also highlighted.
