First 100 days of Joe Biden’s presidency
On April 22, 2021, INCIPE hosted a virtual event titled First 100 days of Biden’s presidency. The prominent El País correspondent in the United States, Amanda Mars, headlined this session, which was introduced by the Spanish ambassador and secretary-general of INCIPE, Manuel Alabart. The gathering was characterized by a profound analysis of the impact of Joe Biden’s early presidency on American society and the international political arena.
During her presentation, Amanda Mars tackled various current topics, beginning with the impact of the George Floyd case on American society and Biden’s response, emphasizing the president’s steadfast stance against racism. She also pointed out intriguing parallels between the Biden administration and Roosevelt’s, as both Presidents faced monumental crises. Mars analyzed Biden’s policies to address the pandemic, highlighting his progressive and resolute approach.
Furthermore, there was emphasis on changes in U.S. foreign policy under Biden’s leadership, showcasing a return to multilateralism while maintaining firm positions on sensitive issues such as Iran, China, and Russia. The withdrawal of U.S. military forces from Afghanistan was also a topic of debate, enriching discussions on the current administration’s global strategy.
