Conference: IAEA Nuclear Security Programme: Status and Challenges

On April 24, 2014, INCIPE organized a Conference under the heading, IAEA Nuclear Security Program: Status and Challenges, due to the anticipated visit of Khammar Mrabit, the Director of the Division of Nuclear Safety of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), to Spain.

The meeting was attended by a large number of experts and members of the Spanish Nuclear Society who discussed priorities in regards to nuclear security. The three areas of impact most examined were use, storage, and transport. The cornerstones of nuclear safety, prevention and cooperation, are essential in the work of the organization.

The Conference closed with a discussion regarding the level of cooperation between the IAEA and the EU, as well as NATO, and the fight against terrorism.
