Participants: Sven Biscop (Senior Research Fellow, The Royal Institute for International Relations, Brussels), Dr. Roby Nathanson (General Director, The MacroCenter for Political Economics, Tel Aviv), Dr. Shlomo Shpiro (Director of the Center for International Communications and Policy, BarIlanUniversity, Ramat Gan), Dorothee Schmid (Research on Mediterranean/Middle Eastern Issues, IFRI, Paris).
The IEPN (Israel-Europe Policy Network) was established in 2003 by the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung in cooperation with the Center for the Study of European Politics and Society at the Ben Gurion University and the Israeli Institute for Social and Economic Research. The aim of the project is the creation of a network of Israeli and European policy-makers, researchers and representatives from NGOs and the media who meet and develop potential scenarios regarding future relations between Israel and the European Union in the area of Security, Politics, Economy and Society. The project’s assumption is that the promotion of Israel’s relations with the European Union represents a new avenue to achieve peace and economic prosperity in the medium and long term.
